Border Animal Rescue

BAR's adoptable pets are featured below and on our PETFINDER page.

We often post them on our Facebook page also:  https://www.facebook.com/Borderanimalrescue

We have many pets in foster care and will post them when they're ready for adoption. Some of our pets can be visited in the Sierra Vista PetSmart adoption center, and some can be visited at their foster homes by appointment. See each listing below for details.

Download our ADOPTION FORM HERE. If you meet a BAR pet at PetSmart,

you can fill out the application in the store.

Look who wants a forever home:

Lexie and Star are bonded female Chihuahuas that need to be rehomed together in a home with no kids. The owner has to move into a nursing home and can’t bring her dogs with her.

Lexie is an albino Chi. She gets monthly “sydial cital point” injection and steroid injection by vet at New Frontier who thinks it is due to her diet. Lexie is 9 yo, weighs 12.5 pounds and has vet appt on Tues for shots. Lexie is more playful than Star.

Star was found as a stray by the flower shop on Fry and is also 9, weighs 9.8 lbs and needs dental. The owner is willing to pay for the dental before rehoming.

The dogs have been together since they were 2 yrs. Neither has been around cats. Star is mellow. Both have been spayed. Call Deb Munson 520-249-3932.

Patches

Patches is a large, senior pit mix looking for a family in a quiet home to spend her final years with. She is about 10 years old and is losing her hearing. A few weeks ago she lost her brother and now her owner is in the hospital and will no longer be able to care for her. She’s an indoor dog but enjoys spending quiet moments outside in the sun or napping. She’s never been around children so we would recommend a home with no children or other animals. If you feel Patches would fit into your home life please contact Dave or Mary at 520-263-4500.

Wendell is a 2-year old lab mix. His is UTD with vaccinations, neutered and house trained. He loves to be close to you--on the couch, or sleeping with you or near your feet if your sitting. If you can't find him, check the beds and couches. He prefers being inside but loves to run and play with you if you're outside. Very friendly and loves to meet people. He is does not like wind or gunshots. Not good with cats.  For more information contact Kerry (520-227-4735).

Congratulations on these Happy Endings!

Update:  Adopted July 2022!!!

Meet Amara! Her birthday is May 14, 2020.

Amara is a 2 year old beagle mix who weighs about 46 lbs. She is a very sweet girl who loves to give hugs and cuddles, but she sometimes needs a little time to warm up to you, if she hasn't met you yet. She does very well with older children, though she hasn’t been around younger kids.

Amara is microchipped, spayed, and is up to date on her rabies/DAPPL/Bordetella. Amara is both house trained & kennel trained, and can walk well on a leash. This smart doggie understands the following commands... sit, come, down, wait, leave it, no, off & kennel up (meaning go into your crate.)

Update:  Adopted Oct 2022

Diana is a four year old black shepherd/lab mix with a white spot on her chest. She is incredibly friendly. She loves to be close to you--couch, bed or just sitting around. She prefers being in the house rather than outside. She does not like wind or gunshots. She loves to play and will always greet you at the door with a wagging tail. She should not be in a home with small animals.

Update:  Adopted, Aug 2022!

This is Toots. She is a chow mix, spayed, microchipped, very friendly, loves being outdoors, and good with kids & other dogs. Toots is 4 years old & housetrained. She doesn't know cats so not sure if she would get along with them. Her owner is very ill and needs to find a home for Toots.  For more information, contact 202-210-5409
